Crazy Beautiful

Wednesday was a crazy day.

Wednesday was a beautiful day.

I woke up in the morning, went to work, and was going about my day as usual when…

Crazy - Shanna calls me and tells me the van won’t start (she had met her sister north of town in an area we aren’t too familiar with). The jumper cables are in the garage.

Beautiful - a co-worker of mine has cables, and knows the area Shanna is located, and tells me where an auto parts store is to take the van once we get it jumped to change out the battery.

So, 20 minutes later I’m meeting up with Shanna and the kids.

Crazy – the van won’t start even after 10-15 minutes of cables from the other car.

Beautiful – we were at a McDonald’s so Aiden was able to play on the indoor play structure, and we could be in the AC while making calls for a tow truck.

We called a tow truck and I took Shanna and the kids home.

Crazy – the AC in the jeep isn’t working all that great, and being that it’s been in the 90’s this week, the 30 minute ride home was a little warm.

Beautiful – God watched over us and provided a way to get home safely.

We had made plans already to go to the YMCA outdoor pool for dinner and swimming. We figured this would be a good way to unwind from the car happenings earlier in the day. So while we’re getting ready, we have the tv on, and they show a line of showers...
Crazy – it was coming right toward us.

Beautiful – it was still a ways off, so we plan to go enjoy the pool for a little bit.

We get to the pool and enjoy about 20 minutes of swimming before we had to get out for the mandatory rest period from 5:50-6:00pm (which is when we ate dinner).

Crazy – the clouds were rolling in.

Beautiful – we had some time to enjoy the water.

Crazy – while swimming, Aiden enjoyed jumping up and down, and found himself sitting on the bottom (of the 2 foot area) totally emerged for a second. He stands up, realizing he was totally under water for the first time…

Beautiful – he didn’t freak out like I thought he might. He looked at me as if to say “what just happened?” and shook off the water from his face and laughed about it.

Crazy – the rains started coming down. But we’re wet already, so we might as well stay in the water. However, due to the high winds, they closed up the huge umbrellas that would have kept our clothes, towels, stroller, etc, dry.

Beautiful – there’s an indoor pool that we can go into, and our stuff would be dry.

Stella loved the indoor pool because it was a little warmer. She was laughing and having fun in her float when…

Crazy – there’s thunder outside, so they are forced to close the pool. Why they have to close the indoor pool, I really don’t understand. Something about the pool not being grounded or something. Never heard of that growing up.

Beautiful – we had a little more time to spend in the water before the thunder.

Crazy – on our way to the car, the clouds have passed and the sun is shining bright, but the outdoor pool is closed for the night (currently 7pm, and they normally close at 7:30pm). Man, we could have enjoyed a little more time.
Beautiful – there was a HUGE rainbow in the sky off to the east.

As I look at the rainbow, I’m reminded that even though Wednesday turned out to be a crazy day and there were a number of frustrating moments, God is still in control, He kept us safe with the car, has allowed us to enjoy the outdoor pool (which we will do all summer long) and has blessed me with a wonderful wife and kids.

Regarding the car...

Crazy- it's just the battery...

Beautiful - it's just the battery. Could have been a lot worse.

You forgot to mention the beautiful part of sleeping in since Aiden wasn't there to wake you up.
And the other beautiful thing was that Aiden got to get up early on the farm and help move the chickens, feed the chickens, watch the calves run and play on the beautiful backdrop of the sun rising and then getting to eat cereal on the back porch with his Aunt Shelly and cousin Katelyn.
