Family Weekend #2

I just realized I haven't posted about our Family Weekend #2. It almost didn't happen so maybe I'm just now getting back in a routine. We spent the whole last week sick and so as the weekend drew near we wondered if we'd feel up to continuing our plans. Thank the Lord, by Friday afternoon things were looking up and the weather was gorgeous so we continued as planned.

On Friday night, while my mom was here to help get us healthy, we decided to carve pumpkins. We found HUGE ones at Publix and so we carved them and then the kids asked if they could paint them. We let Stella paint a small one while Aiden got to do the back of our carved one.

On Saturday morning after mom left we headed to the zoo! Daddy never gets to go with us because it closes so early in the evening so this was another treat the kids were looking forward too. We also had decided we'd be "tourists" and buy the large refillable cup, buy the kids a toy, etc. Really making it a memorable day as we'd never usually do those things!! The zoo was PACKED but fun!

The elephants never come to the watering hole (up close)
when we are there!! This time they must
have wanted to say hi to Brian!

This one is a little blurry but I must say that's one big turtle!!

The kids love the petting zoo. Don't ask me why,
as I'm not a fan. So glad daddy was here
this time and I didn't have to go in.

After the zoo it was home for naps and then off to another Vandy football game. This game was homecoming and we played Army so it promised to be a good one. They had said to be watching for an aerial presentation and so we were all psyched to see what that meant.

Two guys jumped out of an airplane and then
parachuted down to the field. They flew an American flag
behind them and delivered the game ball.

We got a video of them flying right over our heads and down to the field but it's not loading here. Bummer! Aiden kept saying he thought they were going to land on his head and Stella kept asking for more and for them to do it again. It was certainly a treat!

We're no Ohio State or Tennessee with our huge band and traditions but this is how Vandy brings the players on the field and it's the highlight for our kids....

We've had these seats for a few years now and all the people around us have pretty much remained the same too. Stella decided she wanted to go sit with some people across the aisle and spent a decent amount of time there. Glad we know them!

I just love my family and kids! We have such a good time! Can't wait to have more Family Weekends and adventures with #3 too!

Did y'all have the stomach bug? Ellie puked for 9 days. Then my in-laws caught it. It was a bad two weeks but think we've finally turned the corner. Just wonder if it went around church?
